Argentine Vice President to Keynote WCIT 2006

Scheduled for Austin, Texas, May 1-5

The World Congress on Information Technology 2006 (WCIT 2006) announced that Daniel Scioli, vice president of Argentina, will participate in the Congress as a keynote speaker during the Innovation Exchange Program. Scioli's knowledge and support of multicultural communications and technological development will further WCIT 2006's mission to enable social and economic development around the world through the exchange of policies, ideas and technology.

WCIT 2006 is expected to draw 2,000 business, government and academic leaders from 80 countries to Austin, Texas, on May 1-5, 2006 and will focus on three main Global Impact Program topics: Privacy and Security; Digital Access: A Global Progress Report; and Healthcare IT in the 21st Century. The goal of WCIT 2006 is to explore these issues and to make specific, actionable policy recommendations to both the global IT community and government officials throughout the world.

The WCIT 2006 speaking roster enhances an already strong group of confirmed presenters, including Gen. Colin Powell (ret.), former United States secretary of state, John S. Chen, chairman, CEO and president of Sybase Inc., Michael Dell, chairman of the Board of Directors of Dell Inc., Anne M. Mulcahy, chairman and CEO, Xerox Corporation, Paul Otellini, CEO of Intel, Hector Ruiz, chairman of the board, president and CEO of AMD, and John W. Thompson, chairman of the board of directors and chief executive officer of Symantec Corporation. Other business, academic and government leaders will be added to the roster, with announcements forthcoming.

World Congress forums have been held in international cities such as Taipei, Taiwan (2000), Adelaide, Australia (2002) and Athens, Greece (2004). The World Congress is held every two years on a different continent and is the signature forum of the World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA), a consortium of 67 information technology (IT) industry associations that represents over 90 percent of the world's IT market.
