CyberAngel Security Solutions, Inc. (CSS, Inc.) and Skyhook Wireless, Inc., provider of the Wi-Fi Positioning System (WPS), have announced widespread acceptance of the recently launched CyberAngel Wi-Trac solution. Major institutions such as the U.S. Army Labs, Florida Department of Motor Vehicles, Sparrow Hospital, OneLegacy (a donate life organization), Transplant Resource Center, Brown University, Rutgers University, and University of Central Florida have licensed the CyberAngel Wi-Trac in part due to its innovative Wi-Fi Positioning System from Skyhooks Wireless. As a result of the widespread market demand for the CyberAngel Wi-Trac solution, Skyhook's Wi-Fi Positioning System will be integrated as a standard component of all CyberAngel's products. In today's world, business and mobile workers increasingly rely on laptops and mobile devices to conduct business. Although this shift has resulted in increased productivity and convenience, mobility has also increased data and security risks. According to SafeWare, for example, more than 600,000 laptops are stolen or lost every year, and many of these devices have sensitive customer or corporate data on them. As a result major organizations are looking to the CyberAngel Wi-Trac to reduce these risks.
"In the event of a lost or stolen laptop, quick recovery of the device is critical to the protection of confidential data. Older tracking methods just told us where that router is located, not where the machine is located (like Wi-Trac does)," said Lt. James Santoro, U.S. Dept. of Defense Police, U.S. Army Labs. "After evaluating solutions in the market, we found that the advanced tracking capabilities of the CyberAngel Wi-Trac best met our rigorous security and data protection needs."
Todd Jennings, CIO of the Transplant Resource Center, explained, "We have critical patient and clinical data on our laptops, and while this information is protected with CyberAngel's encryption technology, we feel the new ability to track in a wireless environment will expedite recovery of the stolen physical asset, and result in a higher recovery rate overall."
"We are thrilled at the overwhelming response to the new capabilities that Skyhook's Wi-Fi Positioning System brings to the CyberAngel solution," said Bradley Lide CEO of CyberAngel. "As a result, the WPS platform is now incorporated into all of the CyberAngel's product lines."
