Identity Theft Resource Center Announces New Web Site

"The ITRC felt it was imperative to provide a Web resource that could be updated in 'real time,' supplying current, relevant information."

The Identity Theft Resource Center (ITRC) has launched a new Web site with a fresh look, updated fact sheets, a state and local resources map, greater navigational capabilities and an advanced search engine.

With the use of "Article Manager" data tools, ITRC will be able to provide victims, consumers and businesses with rapidly updated information in a specially designed, user-friendly format. Streaming headlines will alert the user to a wide range of identity theft information and news, and can be updated in moments as new issues occur. This includes the ITRC Breach List, scams, new trends in identity theft and community events in which the ITRC will be participating.

One new feature is a map of the United States providing the latest information on state and federal legislation. Also highlighted is the ITRC's updated breach list derived from a recently developed database designed specifically to quantify and track data breaches. In addition, a greater number of links are now available to provide a wider range of valuable information to all users -- victims, consumers, law enforcement, media and businesses.

"The ITRC felt it was imperative to provide a Web resource that could be updated in 'real time,' supplying current, relevant information," stated Sheila Gordon, ITRC's director of victim services and project manager for the new Web site. "Knowledge is power, and we want to empower people."
