Malicious Spyware Threatens Security

SpyXposer,Panda Software's free, on-demand online scanner has already detected more than 6 million samples of spyware in 2006. This figure highlights the danger of spyware -- not only infringing on user privacy but also causing problems in computers such as system slowdowns, crashes, etc.

Spyware and adware have become a serious Internet threat over recent months. According to IT Observer, 90 percent of computers are infected by this type of malicious code, returning large-scale profits either from the sale of gathered data or through the sending of junk mail.

"This type of malicious code, which has traditionally been a minor concern for users, precipitates reduced productivity, resulting in corporate financial losses," explains Luis Corrons, director of Panda Software's Labs."
