The Department of Administration, which runs the server that the website is on, took the page down until it could be fixed, according to Linda Trout, interim administrative director of the courts. The site was functioning again by Thursday evening.
Trout was unsure of what appeared on the website when it was controlled by the hackers. But a reader who tipped the Statesman to the incident also emailed a video showing the website with a dancing stick figure, an expletive and the words "Hani Xavi Tunisian Hackers."
No private information was compromised, Trout said. But court information was unavailable for the hour that the site was down.
Trout said she was unaware of any previous breaches of the website. "The Department of Administration is investigating and trying to determine how it happened," she said.
