Improving Transportation Safety and Service in Boston

Boston’s Chief of Streets discusses the role of technology in improving city transportation services and the overall safety on Boston roadways.

Chris Osgood took the helm as Boston's first chief of streets in August 2016 and was tasked by Mayor Martin Walsh with improving transportation in the growing city. As he told attendees of the Massachusetts Digital Government Summit on Sept. 13, his role centers on improving all modes of transportation throughout the city.

Among the other initiatives under his purview, Osgood oversees the Go Boston 2030 initiative, which focuses on the city's future transportation needs. During the summit, Osgood discussed how these efforts intertwine with technology and how officials hope to guide transit in the years to come.
