Los Angeles Mayor Launches Environmental Web Site

"Million Trees LA" gets online support

Los Angeles' Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa has launched a Web site to accompany his Million Trees LA environmental initiative. On the site, the mayor called his initiative a "partnership between the City of Los Angeles, community groups, businesses and individuals" to make LA "a greener, cleaner, healthier and more beautiful" city.

The mayor's plan is to have at least 1 million trees planted in LA over the next few years. The mayor announced the Web site at a tree planting ceremony, at Sun Valley Fire Station No. 77, where the newly planted trees were dedicated to the memory of firefighters lost in the 9/11 tragedies. To demonstrate the new site, Villaraigosa entered the event on the "Have Your Tree Count" page where place, time and reason for the planting can be registered.
