Alabama Department of Human Resources Awards Contract for Child Support Data Center Hosting

March 10, 2008 By

The Alabama Department of Human Resources awarded a follow-on contract to Northrup Grumman for data center hosting services for the Alabama Location Enforcement and Collection System (ALECS), which provides child support processing and services.

ALECS is the federally certified system used by the Alabama Department of Human Resources to locate absent parents, establish paternity support, collect and disburse child support payments, enforce child support agreements and review case situations. ALECS processes approximately $350 million in collections each year.

Northrop Grumman's Information Technology (IT) sector will provide data center IT services, database support and services, data center hosting, facilities management, and disaster recovery planning and testing for the statewide child support enforcement system.

Northrop Grumman was awarded the preceding ALECS data center hosting support and services contract in 2003. The new contract award is for one base year with four, one-year options. The total contract value, if all option years are exercised, is $32.7 million.

Data center support will be provided from Albuquerque, N.M., and additional services will be performed in Montgomery, Ala.
