Representatives of corporations, institutions of higher education, government at all levels and interest groups will convene at a first-ever, invitation-only summit to be hosted by the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP) on June 3 and 4 in Washington, D.C.
Highlights will include remarks by Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao and Assistant Secretary for ODEP Neil Romano, as well as decorated disabled veteran and entrepreneur Dawn Halfaker, and executives from Aetna Inc., Northrop Grumman Corp., Deloitte, Booz Allen Hamilton Inc., CVS/Caremark, AT&T, Walgreens and Wells Fargo Bank.
Attendees will take note of the progress that has been made toward the full inclusion of people with disabilities in the American workforce and determine next steps toward reducing barriers. Areas of emphasis will include flexibility, universal design/accessibility, self-employment, returning injured and wounded service members, new technologies, the intergenerational workplace and organizational culture.
