Colorado found its new Chief Technology Officer.

The Governor’s Office of Information Technology (OIT) announced on Aug. 26 that David McCurdy would take the position made vacant by the promotion of Suma Nallapati to CIO and secretary of technology in May. Spending the past 10 years at Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI), McCurdy will continue the agency’s work of enhancing state IT systems.

At CHI, McCurdy served as associate vice president and chief enterprise architect, leading a 1,000-employee IT organization responsible for servicing hospitals and medical clinics across the nation.

“My passion is knowing how our work with technology makes a positive difference in the world every day,” he said in a press release (PDF). McCurdy has 17 years’ experience working in the fields of telecommunications, finance, health care and now public service.

Before joining OIT, Nallapati also held a technical management position at CHI. “We are so fortunate to work at an organization that continues to attract people of this caliber,” Nallapati said of McCurdy’s arrival. He begins Sept. 2.
