3rd Consecutive win for Delegata at GTC

CalPERS and Delegata partnership proves fruitful

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Delegata announced that it has been awarded the prestigious "Exhibitor Best Solutions Award" at the Government Technology Conference (GTC) for the third consecutive year. Delegata received this award for the Technology Migration Solution produced for the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS).

CalPERS is the largest public pension fund in the nation providing retirement and health benefits to more than 1.3 million members and over 2500 employers. To improve customer service, reduce costs, ensure accuracy, and improve operational efficiencies, CalPERS partnered with Delegata and leveraged the power of the Internet to provide a true eGovernment platform to its members and partners. The Automated Communication Exchange System (ACES) portal provides the people, process, and technology linkages for CalPERS' new Government-to-Government /Business-to-Business (G2G/B2B) platform. The ACES portal features online forms, file transfer, inquiry and billing capabilities for business-critical operations between CalPERS and its partners.

While the initial ACES proof-of-concept provided a quick return on investment, the system's original proprietary technology infrastructure could not support the full rollout of the system and its additional functionality to 2500 employers and providers. The new IT vision established by Jack Corrie, CalPERS Chief Information Officer and recipient of CIO magazine's "Top 100 CIO's Worldwide" and Computer magazine's "2003 April Laureate" awards, was "to move CalPERS toward a 'shared services' environment using an integrated suite of products".

This new, scalable infrastructure allowed CalPERS to increase its processing capabilities from 50,000 to 350,000 transactions without an increase in staff and provided substantial IT cost reductions and operational efficiencies. The technology transformation provided a robust, high-performance infrastructure for all future enterprise-wide eBusiness services along with reduced system maintenance, reduced software license fees, leveraged hardware usage, reduced number of interfaces supported, improved portability of IT staff skills across multiple projects, increased speed and quality of application development and enhancement efforts, and substantially reduced production downtime.
