A Different Look -- Outsourcing to India

How India outsourcing can indirectly help American software engineers

While many American software engineers and IT professionals feel they're losing jobs to India because large technology companies are moving jobs there, one small company in Beaverton, Ore. is looking at it from a different aspect and helping Americans take advantage of the disadvantage.

Studies show that certified software engineers earn more and find it easier to get jobs than uncertified engineers. However, the cost of professional certification in the United States, often thousands of dollars, can be prohibitive.

Software Application Integrity Database Experts (SAI Database Experts) has arranged a corporate relationship with Oracle University India Ltd. (a division of Oracle Corp. headquartered in California) to provide American engineers an opportunity to become Oracle-certified professionals at a fraction of the U.S. cost.

Oracle University training and certification exams are identical here and in India, but the cost of certification in India is substantially less expensive. To help American engineers take advantage of these cost savings, SAI Database Experts is launching an introductory package in March 2004 for Oracle professional certification in India. Course instruction is provided through Oracle University's Bangalore facility. SAI Database Experts provides engineers participating in their program the comfort and convenience of Western-style accommodations, food and other amenities difficult for foreign visitors to secure in India.

Plans are under way to add certification packages in India for other software, like Java, Siebel and Cisco.
