Anaheim Mayor Curt Pringle to Discuss Technology at Conference

Wi-Fi, 311, enterprise consolidation on agenda

Anaheim Mayor Curt Pringle will join more than 200 of the nation's mayors in Chicago June 10-14 for the 73rd annual meeting of the United States Conference of Mayors (USCM) to discuss a variety of issues affecting Anaheim and cities throughout the country including homeland security, jobs and the economy, and transportation.

Mayor Pringle will share several initiatives under way in Anaheim that address key agenda items including the Enterprise Virtual Operations Center (EVOC) designed to increase security during a crisis.

In addition, Mayor Pringle will attend a discussion on wireless technology to explore opportunities to create greater Wi-Fi access for all Anaheim residents and visitors, and will participate in a roundtable discussion on technology issues including 311 systems, enterprise consolidation and wireless technology. He will also be meeting with mayors from throughout the country to discuss similar policy goals on housing, transportation and tax reform.

The Conference is being led by Akron, Ohio Mayor and current Conference President Donald L. Plusquellic and is being hosted by USCM Past President and Mayor Richard M. Daley of Chicago. Confirmed participants include Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff, Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Alphonso Jackson, Senator Norm Coleman (MN), Congressman Mike Turner (OH), Idaho Governor Dick Kempthorne, U.S. Ambassador to Poland Victor Ashe, and the president of the National Education Association, Reg Weaver.
