As supporter of the initiative, Governor Sonny Perdue hosted the announcement at the Georgia State Capitol and highlighted the importance of public-private partnerships, particularly those like the CA and BGCA alliance, which helps nonprofits build infrastructural capacity. Governor Perdue said, "Innovative partnerships like this one provide nonprofit organizations with access to the same software, training, and information security available to Fortune 500 companies. It would be nearly impossible for organizations like BGCA to strengthen and secure their infrastructure without the support of corporate partners like CA."
As part of the partnership, CA will donate its Unicenter infrastructure management and eTrust security management solutions over a three-year period, creating an efficient and highly secure IT environment for BGCA's headquarters and its Clubs. In addition to the products, CA will provide training, technical and project management assistance.
"We are extremely pleased that CA has chosen to be our national information technology security partner," said Bill Regehr, senior vice president of information technology at BGCA. "CA's support will help us protect our Club members from spam, deliver software more quickly to a complex network, and protect 56,000 workstations from the ever-increasing threat of virus attacks. This supports Boys & Girls Clubs of America's efforts to reduce costs and provide more efficient services to our Clubs."
CA's donation will fall under its global philanthropy program -- CA Together IT. The CA Together IT program works with nonprofits around the globe, providing them with a full range of information technology management services. Through this program, CA is equipping nonprofits with the technological capacity necessary to be successful in the 21st century.
"CA Together IT further builds on CA's long history of giving to the communities in which we live and work," said Don Friedman, CA's chief marketing officer. "By providing IT management software that meets the infrastructure and security management needs of nonprofit organizations such as Boys & Girls Clubs of America, we are able to serve the greater good of the global community. It is an honor to partner with BGCA on this extremely important initiative."
