The CIO will be responsible for developing a comprehensive plan that will connect the county's business strategies with technology in an efficient and effective manner. The successful candidate will assess technology enhancement opportunities for the organization and position the organization to move to a higher level of performance. The CIO will create a vision of how IT will build organizational success; shape and inform expectations for an IT-enabled enterprise; create clear and appropriate IT Governance; develop and maintain a high-performing staff; and manage IT risks effectively. The incumbent must be able to develop, communicate and partner with others to execute a shared strategic vision for technology in a progressive and diverse community.
Under the direction of county executive management, this dynamic individual will lead and manage the county's information technology and telecommunications systems and activities including, but not limited to, multiple information and communication means, such as voice, data, imaging, and office automation. The Chief Information Officer will be responsible for managing the IT department's current daily operations and budget and making key personnel decisions for a staff of 88 employees.
The CIO will also:
- develop a model and provide leadership for IT Governance processes and define roles and responsibilities of key individuals;
- evaluate opportunities for consolidation of information and technology functions;
- chair and coordinate the IT Governance Council;
- develop and enhance the role of the IT Department in project management; and
- collaborate with the school system to support a coordinated IT strategy.
