Calif. Renews Driver's License Issuance Program

Secure, durable and high-quality driver licenses and ID cards

California is a leader in secure issuance of driver licenses, supporting a population of 34 million citizens. The California Department of Motor Vehicles has signed a two-year contract extension with Digimarc, including the option for the state to extend the contract for one additional year. Under this contract, Digimarc will continue to operate the nation's highest volume central issue driver license system. The system includes a world-class card production factory and more than 170 enrollment locations.

"We are pleased to extend our long-term relationship with the State of California," said Robert Eckel, president, government programs, Digimarc. "With this extension, we look forward to continuing to support the State in producing secure, durable and high-quality driver licenses and ID cards, while meeting California's stringent standards and helping position the DMV to comply with emerging federal REAL ID Act requirements."

Digimarc Corporation, based in Beaverton, Oregon, is a leading supplier of secure identity and media management solutions. Digimarc provides products and services that enable the production of more than 60 million personal identification documents, including two-thirds of U.S. driver licenses and IDs for more than 20 countries.
