Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger yesterday announced the appointment of Jack Corrie as chief deputy director for strategic service delivery at the Department of Motor Vehicles.

"Jack's track record in information technology and state government gives me great confidence in his ability to streamline and modernize operations at the Department of Motor Vehicles," said Schwarzenegger.

Corrie has served since 1998 as the chief information officer and chief of the Information Technology Services Division for the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS). In that position he was responsible for strategic, business, and information systems planning, as well as day-to-day operations for the system's self-contained data center and applications development and maintenance operation. Before joining CalPERS, Corrie was the chief information officer and deputy director for the Department of Corrections. He is a former chairman of the Government Technology Conference Advisory Board and a member of the Worldwide Executive Council, IEEE Society, PMI Society, National Retirement Association, and was one of the founding members of the California Law and Technology Foundation.

"I am honored Governor Schwarzenegger has given me this opportunity to help make the Department of Motor Vehicles a more efficient and more innovative institution," said Corrie. "I look forward to working with him to enhance the department's ability to serve the people of California."
