Wallace is currently the Director of Information Technology Services for the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, a post he has held since February of 2000. In that role, he directs the ITS, Telecommunications, Geographic Information System (GIS) and Multimedia functions. He will oversee many of these same functions in Chesapeake, while also developing the City's strategic technology plans.
Wallace previously worked as the Associate Director/Information Technology Manager for Guilford County (Greensboro), North Carolina. He also spent 15 years in computer and technology positions with Harcourt Brace and Company, culminating with 2 years as Help Desk Manager for the company's 3,000-user facility.
"The opportunity presented by Chesapeake, already acknowledged as a technological leader among local governments, was one I just couldn't ignore," said Wallace. "I look forward to building on the city's strong foundation and willingness to embrace new innovations to help position Chesapeake for continued advancement."
Wallace holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida. He was also recently certified as a Chief Information Officer by the Florida Institute of Government at Florida Sate University. Wallace will receive an annual salary of $115,000.
