"The opportunity presented by Chesapeake, already acknowledged as a technological leader among local governments, was one I just couldn't ignore."

Chesapeake City, Virginia, Manager William E. Harrell announced today that Peter R. Wallace has been named as the city's first Chief Information Officer, effective December 3, 2007.

"I am extremely pleased to be able to bring someone of Mr. Wallace's skill and experience to Chesapeake," said Harrell. "With the ever-growing influence of technology in our society, it is critical that the city position itself to both meet and exceed the needs of our citizens."

"The opportunity presented by Chesapeake, already acknowledged as a technological leader among local governments, was one I just couldn't ignore," said Wallace. "I look forward to building on the city's strong foundation and willingness to embrace new innovations to help position Chesapeake for continued advancement."
