Connecticut Implements HIPAA Training Solution

Connecticut implemented an e-learning solution to deliver HIPAA general privacy training to as many as 6,000 employees.

HARTFORD, Conn. -- Connecticut implemented an e-learning solution to deliver HIPAA general privacy training to as many as 6,000 employees.

Enacted in 1996, HIPAA -- the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act -- addresses the electronic transfer of health data, as well as the privacy and security of that information. Training is a strong component of the federal legislation.

Connecticut selected Learn.com to provide vender-hosted HIPAA education. Learn.com subcontracted with CDrive Corp. and Covansys Corp. to deliver the new service. The e-learning program is based on classroom training developed by Covansys.

"The partnership between Learn.com, CDrive and Covansys presented a flexible, robust Web-based training tool with preloaded HIPAA privacy content that met all the requirements of our bid request," said Lisa Chase, HIPAA program director for the state. "The course content and platform were ready to go within two days of project initiation. It was easy to implement and had a very reasonable cost per head."
