E-Filing Available for 14,000 More Akron Filers

Now virtually every Akron resident is able to file electronically.

For the first time in Akron, Ohio's eight year E-Filing history, tax filers with self-employment and rental income are permitted to file their city tax returns electronically. This opens the door to more than 14,000 additional Akron taxpayers who file federal schedules C and E with the IRS.

Now, virtually every Akron resident is able to file electronically. It's simple and safe, and takes only 5 to 10 minutes to complete. For those taxpayers who owe additional tax, payments can be made online when using VISA or MasterCard. Akron's tax filing deadline is Tuesday, April 17th.

All Akron residents born on or before December 31, 1988 are required to file a city income tax return. Retirees whose only source of income is from Social Security, pensions, interest or dividends need only file a one-time exemption form with the Income Tax Division which is included with the individual form or can be downloaded online.

Taxpayers may continue to use the traditional tax returns or may download a form from the Income Tax Division Web site if they so desire.

NOTE: If a 2006 city tax return has already been filed please wait until next year to try Akron's online filing program.
