Europa, the European Union's Web site, contains some 1 million documents, in 20 different languages, covering the agreements, activities and products of the EU. The site is organized in six sections that include links to treaties and legislation, EU organizations, activities, news, databases, statistics, maps, citizens' rights, and answers to key questions.
Sometimes criticized in the U.S. as a vast bureaucracy, the EU is undoubtedly a complicated and ambitious undertaking, and Europa's value as a knowledge hub can be estimated by its use. The site's page views have risen steadily year by year, with 1.6 billion page views in 2004. This February alone, the site received 120 million page views and 11 million visits.
