FCO Launches New EU Information Site

europe.gov.uk aims to plug the EU information gap

From Government Forum Web site:
A new website, which aims to provide straightforward, factual and accessible information on the European Union was launched at www.europe.gov.uk.

The new 'Britain in the EU', part of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office is launched as initial findings from a Eurobarometer poll reveal as many as 60% of the public would like to have more information about the EU.

The EU has brought many benefits to the United Kingdom, but there are many myths too. This website is one resource in helping to cut through those myths, so that people can see the facts for themselves and make up their own minds on the benefits the European Union brings to the UK.

The new website will feature a 'future of Europe' section, which will set out a range of opinions on the EU and invite people to contribute to the debate.

The Foreign Office is also launching a new EU Guide. As well as being available online at www.europe.gov.uk, the guide is being sent to public libraries and other information points around the UK.
