Florida's Medicaid Reform Plan Receives Federal Approval

Improves quality of care, provides predictability in spending

Governor Jeb Bush and United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Michael O. Leavitt announced last week federal approval of Florida's groundbreaking Medicaid transformation plan.

Florida's reforms will improve quality of care and provide predictability in spending for Medicaid, the state-federal partnership charged with providing healthcare to more than 2.2million vulnerable, disabled and elderly Floridians. This federal approval recognizes the value of patient choice, coordination of care and the healthy competition

By overhauling Medicaid, Florida is creating a system that empowers patients and expands access to best serve our most vulnerable citizens for years to come.
