Gov. Fletcher to Address Sixth Annual Kentucky Digital Government Summit

April 25 in Lexington

Kentucky Gov. Ernie Fletcher intends to make broadband available to all Kentuckians, businesses and local governments by 2007, dramatically improve the adoption of computers and the Internet across the commonwealth, and bring government closer to the citizen by increasing the offering of meaningful online applications for local government, state government, education and community organizations. The drive to expand the use of technology in the commonwealth has propelled Kentucky to the forefront in a number of areas:
  • Interoperable communications for first responders
  • a digital emergency warning network that will link all sectors of the state
  • fastest growing state in the nation in terms of broadband expansion
  • nationally recognized geospatial mapping capabilities
  • a bold vision for the future of education and health care in Kentucky.
Fletcher is the featured speaker at this year's Kentucky Digital Government Summit April 25 in Lexington, which includes a keynote by astronaut Rick Searfoss, a plenary session on emergency preparedness, almost a dozen summit sessions, and the Best of Kentucky Technology Awards.
