Gov. Perry Names Bacarisse to Texas Department of Information Resources

Texas Gov. Rick Perry last week announced the appointment of Charles Bacarisse of Houston to the Texas Department of Information Resources for a term to expire Feb. 1, 2007. The department is charged with improving technology decisions and ensuring appropriate use of information resources.

Bacarisse is the district clerk of Harris County. He is the president of the Texas District Court Alliance, co-chair of the Office of the Attorney General's County Advisory Work Group and an advisory member of the Joint Commission on Information Technology, appointed by the Texas Supreme Court.

He serves as a board member of the Downtown Houston Association, the Sam Houston Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America and Neighborhood Centers Inc. Bacarisse is a member of the Executives Association of Houston, the Houston Forum and the Greater Heights Area Chamber. He formerly served as president of the Texas Association of Child Support Registries and as a member of the State Bar of Texas' Technology Advisory Committee. The appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.
