Governor Fletcher presents $100,000 Homeland Security Check to Oldham County for First Responders

"It is vitally important that they have the interoperable communications equipment they need to do their jobs effectively"

Governor Ernie Fletcher presented a $100,000 homeland security check to Oldham County to fund communications equipment for law enforcement throughout the county.

"Effective communication among our commonwealth's law enforcement officers is a critical component in our ongoing public safety efforts," said Gov. Fletcher. "Local law enforcement regularly respond to threatening situations, and it is vitally important that they have the interoperable communications equipment they need to do their jobs effectively."

Fletcher, who was joined at the Oldham County Courthouse by Oldham County Judge/Executive Mary Kinser, presented the funding to the Bullitt County Fiscal Court.

The homeland security check presented today to will provide local law enforcement with 10 mobile data computers and related hardware for installation in their cruisers. Effective communication during an emergency is a major factor in efficient and safe response and many times can mean the difference between life and death. The Oldham County Fiscal Court is responsible for the management of the grant.
