Governor Owens Launches 2006 Colorado Tech Week

Week long, state wide event to highlight technology and global economy

Governor Bill Owens kicked off the 2nd Annual Colorado Tech Week at a press conference at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science Monday morning. The weeklong series of statewide events, hosted by the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade, highlights Colorado's dynamic technology and its impact on the global economy.

Gov. Owens outlined his administration's accomplishments in the rising fields of technology, business development, and education. "I'm proud of everything we've accomplished to make Colorado the most tech-friendly state in the nation," said the Governor. "Our state has been well equipped to keep pace with the breakneck speed of technical innovation, as businesses have taken advantage of all that Colorado has to offer."

University of Colorado President Hank Brown was on hand to talk about the importance of Colorado's educational community in supplying the future workforce through quality graduates, and highlighted CU's extremely successful Technology Transfer Program. Colorado Tech Week will highlight these and other local companies that are staking their claims in the burgeoning technology market.
