Hawaii Vendor Compliance Site Wins Award

To comply with state legislation that requires any business wishing to contract with the state of Hawaii or its four counties to demonstrate compliance with state laws

The state of Hawaii's vendor compliance Web site, Hawaii Compliance, has won the 2006 Win-Win Award from the International Association of Commercial Administrators (IACA). Hawaii Compliance Express uniquely fit IACA's "Partnering for Peak Performance" annual conference theme because it links four state agencies, one federal agency, and thousands of vendors who do business with Hawaii state and county governments. The award was presented to representatives of the state of Hawaii at the IACA annual conference in Lake Tahoe recently.

Hawaii Compliance Express was designed to comply with state legislation that requires any business wishing to contract with the state of Hawaii or its four counties to demonstrate compliance with state laws. The site provides an easy way for businesses to meet the state's compliance requirements online and issues a certificate of good standing that can be used during the procurement process.

Hawaii's vendor compliance system eliminates the need to fill out hard-copy forms or wait in line at government agencies. In addition, Hawaii Business Express notifies vendors when they drop out of compliance at any time.

No other state has an online method of complying with state procurement regulations that spans local, state and federal agencies, according to a release from Hawaii Information Consortium LLC, which developed the site and manages the state's Web portal.

Hawaii Compliance Express is a joint effort of the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, Department of Taxation, State Procurement Office, the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism, and the Internal Revenue Service.
