California Health and Human Services Agency (HHS) staff won four of the five awards presented at the CIO Academy held earlier this month in Sacramento:
  • Mike Kassis from the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development won the Best Use of Resources
  • Chris Dunham from the Health and Human Services Data Center won for Best Performance by a CIO
  • George Christie from the Health and Human Services Data Center won for the Most Amazing Project Story
  • Susan Rushing and Carolyn Lawson from the Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs won for the Team Building award
  • Alan Friedman from Parks and Recreation won for Unique Style of Leadership.
The Academy -- a high level, participative series of conversations, dialogues and roundtable discussions produced by GTC -- was designed to standardize and elevate the business capabilities of public-sector CIOs.
