Idaho Joins AMBER Alert State Web Portal Consortium

"Now with all of our neighboring states on board and many others joining soon, the vision of a seamless, fully functioning and powerful national AMBER Alert system is coming to fruition."

Idaho Gov. Dirk Kempthorne recently announced that the state of Idaho will participate in the AMBER Alert Web Portal.

The AMBER Alert Web Portal simultaneously activates numerous modes of communication empowering broadcasters, citizens and law enforcement organizations with real-time information that is key to finding an abducted child.

"Time is of the essence when a child is abducted," Kempthorne said. "The AMBER Alert Web Portal allows the Idaho State Police to instantly engage dozens of agencies and organizations, as well as the general public, giving us an edge that will help close the net on abductors -- potentially saving young children from a horrible fates."

Thirteen other states are already actively putting information on the portal or are gearing up to do so. Other states that have signed on to the consortium are: Arizona, Connecticut, Hawaii, Louisiana, Maine, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nevada, New Jersey, Oklahoma, Oregon and Washington.

Several other states are actively seeking to become a part of what is envisioned to quickly become a seamless national network.

"Now with all of our neighboring states on board and many others joining soon, the vision of a seamless, fully functioning and powerful national AMBER Alert system is coming to fruition," Kempthorne said. "I look forward to the day when all 50 states are part of this ground-breaking effort."

Citizens can sign up on IdahoAMBERAlert.com or nationally at AMBERAlert911.com and receive the alert via any communication device directly from the activating law enforcement agency.
