Information Withheld in Oracle Deal, Official Testifies

A legislative committee is investigating how much information was not given to state IT officials.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Executives selling California a huge Oracle software contract tried to withhold information from a state official who was skeptical about the hastily negotiated contract, the official testified Tuesday.

Kim Heartley-Humphrey, purchasing director for the Department of Information Technology, tried to get information from Oracle's business partner, Logicon, to justify the $95 million contract before it was signed last year. Meanwhile, Logicon salesmen were talking about her in a series of internal e-mails.
