Kentucky CIO Announces Resignation

Aldona Valicenti to leave position this month.

At the end of November 2003, Aldona Valicenti will leave her post as Kentucky's Chief Information Officer (CIO) to pursue other interests. Valicenti was appointed CIO in December of 1997 by Gov. Paul Patton after an aggressive national search. She is Kentucky's first CIO, and was one of the first female state CIOs in the nation.

Valicenti heads the Governor's Office for Technology and has helped the commonwealth view technology from an enterprise perspective to increase efficiencies. Her efforts helped raise awareness of technology issues in Kentucky and won Valicenti a wide range of recognition including being awarded the first Meritorious Service Award winner from the National Association of Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) in 2003.
