Kentucky Governor Signs Executive Order for Reorganization of State Government

Includes the establishment of the new Commonwealth Office of Technology

Gov. Ernie Fletcher recently signed an executive order authorizing the reorganization in Kentucky state government.

Part of the reorganization calls for the abolishment of the Governor's Office for Technology and the establishment of the Commonwealth Office of Technology.

The executive order establishing the Commonwealth Office of Technology states:

"The Commonwealth Office of Technology is hereby established within the Finance and Administration Cabinet. This Office will carry out the functions necessary for the efficient, effective and economical administration of information technology and resources within the executive branch. These duties include establishing IT policy and standard setting deployment, strategic and tactical planning, acquisition, management and operations."
