In his role as Chief Information Officer (CIO), Michael Mittleman will be responsible for implementing the State Technology Strategic Plan, creating information technology policies and standards for state government and coordinating the development and deployment of state government information technology resources. In addition, the CIO develops strategies to improve the ability of the state workforce to employ information technology and helps to facilitate information sharing between and among federal, state and local governments and institutions of higher learning to improve the delivery of government services. Mr. Mittleman joined the Office of the Chief Information Officer as Deputy CIO in August 2002. He chaired the New York State Chief Information Officer Council and collaborates with the state's executive branch agencies to develop an enterprise IT vision and strategy. Mr. Mittleman will earn $145,000 annually.
As Director of the Office for Technology, Meg Levine will oversee the agency in its mission to provide centralized technology services, shape technology policy, and coordinate statewide technology-related initiatives like the governor's initiative to create a "government without walls"-- an initiative aimed at improving government services by making state government more efficient, integrated, cost-effective and accessible to the public by taking advantage of emerging technology. The Office is also responsible for the state's data centers, networks and telecommunications systems and provides technical support to a majority of the state's mission critical services. Meg Levine previously held the positions of Acting Director, Executive Deputy Director, and Chief Administrative Officer for OFT. She has also served as Special Counsel to the state's Chief Information Officer. Ms. Levine will earn $142,317 annually.
