Description: Sealed bids for the construction of Union Drive Community Center, Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa will be received by the Iowa State Board of Regents at the Facilities Planning and Management Office, General Services Building, Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa 50011-4001, until 2:00 p.m. local Iowa Time, on the 20th day of June, 2002, and will then be publicly opened and read aloud. The project consists of a new two story with mezzanine building of approximately 61,300 square feet including dining center with multiple dining rooms, a Marche style food servery, commercial kitchen, convenience store, post office and meeting rooms. The work includes site utility extensions, site grading, temporary and permanent roadway, parking, loading dock, sidewalks, paved plaza, site lighting and landscaping. New building work includes cast-in-place concrete spread and strip footings, slabs, under floor slab and foundation drainage and first floor level exterior bearing walls, concrete masonry bearing and non-bearing wallslight gauge metal and brick veneer exterior walls, concrete upper floor slabs on metal deck and steel joists, steel column and beam framing, light gauge metal ceiling framing and engineered roof trusses and metal deck with asphalt shingles, EPDM roofing, copper and prefinished metal gutters, downspouts and trim, limestone exterior trim, aluminum storefront windows and entrances, hollow metal interior frames and wood doors, thermal and sound insulation, gypsum wall board on light gauge metal framing, steel pan stairs, metal handrails, ceramic wall and floor tile, terrazzo, carpet, wood paneling and trim, paint and millwork. The work also includes toilet accessories, post office and boxes and accessories, metal lockers, loading dock accessories, and interior and specialty signage. Equipment includes hydraulic elevators, food service kitchen, serving and storage equipment and hoods, prefabricated natural gas fireplace, building security system, fire protection system and mechanical, plumbing, electrical and telecommunications equipment. Provisions for liquidated damages are included in this project. Bids will be received for a single General Construction Contract. This project has an Iowa Targeted Small Business participation goal of 10 percent.
