Michigan Department of Human Services Updates Technology

To customize and manage the statewide installation and tracking of the new desktop and notebook computers

The Michigan Department of Human Services -- that provides child protection, adoption and adult placement -- and Department of Information Technology (MDIT) will install more than 7,200 Dell systems in 115 offices across 83 counties.

DHS needed to update its desktops and notebooks, standardize on a common computer platform across all offices and move from a Windows NT Workstation to a Windows XP Professional environment quickly and with minimal downtime.

"To achieve our goal, we needed a technology partner to help us manage the project from beginning to end," said Terry Salacina, acting director of out-of-state operations for DHS.

DHS and MDIT chose Dell's services organization to customize and manage the statewide installation and tracking of the new desktop and notebook computers. Dell also provided asset recovery services, which include the removal and environmentally responsible disposal of old technology.
