Microsoft Establishes Customer Council on Interoperability

"Interoperable by design" based on XML

Microsoft Corp. announced earlier this month hat it has formed the Interoperability Customer Executive Council to identify areas for interoperability improvements across its products and the overall software industry. Microsoft, said a release from the company, is committed to building bridges across the industry to deliver products to its customers that are interoperable by design.

The council, said Microsoft will be hosted by Bob Muglia senior VP of Microsoft's Server and Tools Business, and to date, government participants include agencies from Denmark, Spain, as well as Wisconsin and Delaware from the U.S.

Last year, said the Microsoft release, Bill Gates introduced "interoperable by design," a concept based on Microsoft's use of Extensible Markup Language (XML) and delivering technology that empowers customers by working with the applications and solutions they already have in place.
