Minnesota: New One-Stop Online Gateway For All State Government Licensing

A new web-based portal for citizens, business owners and professionals to access Minnesota state government for all of their licensing requirements

Last week, Governor Tim Pawlenty unveiled "License Minnesota," a new web-based portal for citizens, business owners and professionals to access Minnesota state government for all of their licensing requirements.

License Minnesota is a one-stop gateway to 673 license types administered by more than 40 state agencies. This portal eliminates the need for citizens, professionals and business operators to know which state agency administers what license. Users can view information and in many cases connect directly to web-based license applications. They can look for licenses by activity type, license name, administering agency or through a key word search. The site builds upon an earlier platform and data developed by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development.

"License Minnesota was exactly the type of initiative I imagined when we launched the Drive to Excellence last year," Governor Pawlenty said. "Minnesota citizens and businesses can now handle all of their licensing in one convenient place -- something consumers expect in the marketplace and something we can now deliver in state government."

License Minnesota is among the recent results of Minnesota's Drive to Excellence, unveiled by Governor Pawlenty in April 2005. The goal of Drive to Excellence is to significantly improve the delivery of state government services to the public better, faster and more efficiently.
