NASCIO Elects Officers

Gillispie and Khanna are new VP and secretary-treasurer

The Executive Committee of the National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) has elected Iowa CIO John Gillispie and Minnesota CIO Gopal Khanna to serve as the association's vice-president and secretary-treasurer respectively.

"John and Gopal exemplify the type of participatory leadership that has made NASCIO so successful over the past several years," said NASCIO President and Michigan CIO Teri Takai, "and both will help foster NASCIO's position as the premiere network and resource for state CIOs throughout the upcoming program year."

These mid-program officer elections resulted from a state CIO staffing transition that caused the departure of former Nevada CIO Terry Savage, who had served as NASCIO's vice-president since October 2006. In addition to the Board's election of Gillispie and Khanna, NASCIO President Takai appointed Nebraska CIO Brenda Decker and South Carolina CIO Jim Bryant, to fill vacancies on NASCIO's Executive Committee.

"Brenda and Jim bring a tremendous amount of enthusiasm to the Board," said Takai. "NASCIO and its members will benefit from their knowledge, experience and creativity, which will help advance the association's initiatives in 2007."
