Bronze Medal
The Bronze Medal Award, the highest honorary recognition given by the Institute, was initiated in 1966 and is given for significant performance characterized by outstanding or significant contributions that have increased the efficiency and effectiveness of NIST. BFRL staff members receiving the award this year were:Paul E. Nelson P. Bryner, Supervisory Chemical Engineer; Stephen I. Kerber, ire Protection Engineer; Daniel N. Madrzykowski, Fire Protection Engineer; Jay A. McElroy, Engineering Technician; Roy A. McLane, Engineering Technician; Engineering Technician; David W. Stroup, Fire Protection Engineer; and Robert L. Vettori, Fire Protection Engineer, for completing complex full-scale and live fire experiments to characterize performance of PPV and RFID systems for fire fighters.

Silver Medal Winner
The Silver Medal Award is the second highest honor awarded by the Department of Commerce. It is bestowed for "exceptional performance characterized by noteworthy or superlative contributions that have a direct and lasting impact within the Department." Awards are given in the following categories: leadership, personal and professional excellence, scientific/engineering achievement, organizational development, customer service, administrative/technical support, and heroism.
