The site gives residents simple tips for homes, businesses and schools on how to assemble an emergency kit; making sensible plans; staying informed of the hazards; and how to get involved in community efforts before an emergency hits.
"The launch of the ReadyRiversideWeb site will provide greater access to emergency preparedness information for city residents, businesses, schools and our special-needs populations," said Emergency Manager Anthony Coletta. "It's a one-stop location for what people need to know."
September is National Preparedness Month. City officials are taking the opportunity to urge yearlong readiness.
"Riversiders need to be vigilant in preparing for all types of emergencies," Mayor Ronald O. Loveridge said. "The city is preparing for disasters, but residents will most often be the first to render aid to family and neighbors. Taking steps now to prepare will go a long way to returning our community to normalcy. Please join me in making our city a safer and better prepared place to live, work, and visit. Get a kit, make a plan, be aware and get involved."
The site can also be reached through the city's Web site: http://www.riversideca.gov.
