New Director Named to Kentucky Partnership

Group offers information technology support to government, educational and private sectors

LEXINGTON, KY -- Dr. Linda Johnson, president of the Center for Information Technology Enterprise, Inc. (CITE), announced that Brian Mefford will become the director of connectkentucky and CITE Research Group. Mefford, a Frankfort, Kentucky native, returns to the commonwealth with ten years of experience in business planning, product development, and management consulting.

Connectkentucky is a public-private partnership designed to prepare Kentucky for the global economy. The connectkentucky project first measured Kentucky's readiness to compete in the networked world and the project now fosters increased use of technology among business leaders, policy makers, and individuals.

Bill Brundage and John Hall are co-chairmen of the connectkentucky Steering Committee. Other members include representatives from the Office for the New Economy, the Appalachian Regional Commission, and Kentucky's leading corporations: ALLTEL, Bank One, Belcan, Cincinnati Bell, CSX, Humana, Leapfrog, Nortel, Qwest, USEC, Yum! Brands. The Commonwealth's leading educational institutions are also members: NKU, U of K, U of L, WKU.

CITE, coordinator of connectkentucky, provides information technology strategy and policy planning to business, government, and educational institutions around the globe. In addition, CITE's offices provide state-of-the-art video conferencing and collaboration technology for businesses in the area.
