New Publication Launched at GTC West

Government Technology publishes intergovernmental journal for chief IT executives

FOLSOM, Calif. -- Public CIO, a new quarterly publication for government IT and business executives, made its debut at the 17th annual GTC West Conference in Sacramento. The publication will provide thought leadership on intergovernmental collaboration and other policy issues that are vital to meeting the challenges facing today's public sector leaders, according to publisher Jon Fyffe.

Published by Government Technology, a division of e.Republic, Inc., Public CIO is written exclusively for chief information officers and other chief-level executives in state, county and municipal governments; special districts; federal government; international governments; higher education; and K-12. It will reach 25,000 qualified public sector executives.

"New challenges and initiatives such as Homeland Security, HIPAA and No Child Left Behind, have made intergovernmental IT cooperation essential," Fyffe said. "With Government Technology's 16 years of experience writing to this market, we have the resources needed to address the unique information needs of this level of IT decision maker across the public sector market."

Public CIO will include information on career issues for CIOs and top executives; new developments in enterprise technology applications, insight from thought leaders and advisers, special reports on specific technologies and trends, and an intergovernmental perspective on policy, legislation and other issues CIOs face daily.

"e.Republic has consistently brought light to the real issues facing CIOs. I look forward to their new Public CIO publication that will champion timely and invaluable leadership discussions tailored to the enterprise and specifically on the issues that are important to me as a CIO in higher education," said Brian Cohen, CIO, City University of New York.

"Intergovernmental is the future of public administration and will be for the next 20 to 25 years. A publication devoted to covering the C-level intergovernmental IT issues could be a great benefit to IT leaders across the enterprise," stated Francis A. McDonough, former Deputy Associate Administrator, Office of Intergovernmental Solutions, GSA Office of Government Wide Policy, U.S. General Services Administration upon hearing of the new publication.

Public CIO will launch May 12 at Government Technology Conference (GTC) West in Sacramento, California. The publication's Web site will launch concurrently.

The first issue's cover story features Mark Forman, appointed by President Bush April 16th as Administrator for the Office of E-Government and Information Technology for the United States, the first person in the federal government to fulfill responsibilities normally associated with a corporate Chief Information Officer.
