New Tool for Iowans to Access Government Records

Administrative rules Web portal provides easy access to government information

Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack and Lt. Governor Sally Pederson announced today a new Web portal that will make it easier for citizens and businesses to navigate state government's administrative rules process. The new service will allow individuals and businesses to find and track specific rules and their changes.

"Providing better access to government information is one of the greatest services that information technology can provide," said Vilsack. "This online service makes it easier than ever for Iowans to be notified and track changes to administrative rules that may affect their lives and businesses."

The Web site tracks changes to rules, provides specific information about how a rule operates and the process of changing a rule, and allows for citizens to be notified when specific rules are changing.

The new electronic filing and management system is another way that government can make its processes more efficient and save time and energy for government, businesses and the citizens of Iowa.

"The state portal has already made access to government services easier for countless Iowans," said Pederson. "Moving the administrative rules process online is another important part of that mission to provide better access."

This project was spearheaded by the Governor's Office, the Department of Administrative Services (DAS) and one of its divisions, the Information Technology Enterprise.
