New Virtual Handshake

First web-based global TV network for political candidates

TV Worldwide, the first web-based global TV network, announced that it had been selected by Rhode Island's Committee to Elect Frank Caprio to launch the first Internet TV channel for use in a political campaign, Caprio TV. The launch of the channel is attracting national attention for Caprio, who has already won past awards for his campaign web site and its content.

If elected, in addition to connecting with constituents via Internet TV, Caprio, a technology advocate who has distinguished himself as an independent leader in Rhode Island state government, has vowed to enable citizens to check how each taxpayer dollar is being spent by the state, on-line.

"We say that the Internet acts like a virtual handshake for political
candidates: it's a good supplement to, but not a replacement for, real world contact," stated Julie A. Barko Germany, Deputy Director of The Institute for Politics, Democracy and the Internet at George Washington University's Graduate School of Political Management.

"However, video, like Caprio's new online TV channel, makes a far more powerful impact. It appeals to our emotions. It shows us how the candidate walks and talks and interacts with people."
