New York CIO Plans IT for 2005

Jim Dillon unveils some of the priorities and plans for IT in 2005

In a recent state IT newsletter New York CIO Jim Dillon unveiled some of the priorities and plans for IT in 2005:

"New York will begin the process of procuring a statewide financial management system," Dillon said. "We will delve deeper into the issue of identity management that impacts so many applications. We will build upon the enterprise architecture framework and the peer review process that was established and tested. We will also continue to investigate the practicability and viability of open source technology in government applications."

Dillon also said establishing an IT Investment Board will be one of his priorities.

In November the Office of the CIO released a Statewide IT Strategic Plan, which serves as a roadmap for the state's IT enterprise and addresses several issues: enterprise architecture, information sharing, workforce management, procurement, and user services.
