"The need to raise awareness of making a plan ... is more important than ever, since we, as businesses and residents, can face any number of potential emergencies," said Lieutenant Chuck O'Connor, city of Anaheim Homeland Security Bureau. "While Orange County's police, fire and public safety officers are some of the most prepared professionals in the nation, residents and businesses must also be prepared. Together, we can plan and prepare now to make Orange County ready for any emergency in the future."
This campaign is funded through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Anaheim/Santa Ana Urban Area Security Initiative. "Orange County makes preparedness a top priority, and raising awareness among residents and businesses will only enhance our top-of-the-line public safety technology and resources," said Commander Carlos Rojas of Santa Ana's Homeland Security Division.
On the Web site, residents and businesses can find information on how to create a communications plan and a checklist of the most important items needed for an emergency supply kit. In addition, the site is home to the most up-to-date information on the types of emergencies Orange County may face, the latest news headlines, and ways residents and business can help prepare Orange County for emergencies. Site visitors can also download and print the "ReadyOC: Your Guide to Emergency Preparedness" brochure and sign up for the ReadyOC newsletter and campaign activities. A Spanish version of the site will be launching soon.
