Panel Seeking Oracle Records

A legislative request to the governor's office may set up a Capitol showdown.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Legislative investigators Monday made a broad request for documents from Gov. Gray Davis in the Oracle computer software scandal, perhaps triggering a battle over what information the administration must supply.

In a letter to Davis legal affairs secretary Barry Goode, the Joint Legislative Audit Committee sought e-mails, phone logs, transcripts of meetings and calendar entries, some of them involving the Democratic governor himself.
