President Announces Appointment to U.S. Office of Electronic Government

DOE's Karen Evans to become Administrator

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- President George W. Bush intends to appoint Karen S. Evans, of West Virginia, to be administrator of the Office of Electronic Government, Office of Management and Budget. Evans currently serves as chief information officer at the Department of Energy.

Previously, she served at the Department of Justice as assistant director for Information Services, and then went on to become division director for Information System Management. Earlier in her career, Evans served as deputy director for the Applications Management Division at the Department of Agriculture. She earned her bachelor's degree, master's degree and M.B.A. from West Virginia University.
