Sacramento Awards $1.2 Million Contract for New Enterprise E-Government Solution

Sacramento has selected Accela Automation to be implemented as the city's new enterprise land management system. More than 200 employees in the Development Services Department will use the new application to automate permitting, inspections, workflow, project management, plan review, code enforcement, and other city critical functions. The Development Services Department includes the following divisions: Development Engineering & Finance, Planning Services, and Building Services.

By upgrading , the city will take advantage of a Web-based, enterprise solution that is flexible enough to meet the needs of everyone in the agency. The city has also opted to have Accela provide hosting services for the application.

The new system will provide Sacramento additional functionality including the ability for citizens to apply for applications and permits, research parcels and addresses, and schedule inspections via the Web. The system will also give city staff the ability to leverage their existing investment in GIS.
Additional business solutions to be implemented by the City include:

Mobile government -- The city will implement Accela Wireless to empower inspectors with the ability to remotely input their results from the inspection site using a mobile device. The wireless application is built on Microsoft's .NET platform and is compatible with PDAs, laptops, and Tablet PCs running on the Microsoft Pocket PC, Windows 2000, or Windows XP operating systems.

GIS integration -- The system will allow city employees to have direct access to view geographic representations of all land use and zoning information associated with a permit.

Citizen access -- The city will be implementing a citizen access portal that provides real-time, direct access via the Internet to the city's permit and land management activities. Citizens and businesses will be able to apply and pay for permits, schedule inspections, check the status of a permit or inspection, or print an approved permit directly from the Internet, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
